It is an aggregate of amorphous graphite. The crystal form can be seen only under the electron microscope. Amorphous graphite ore is gray black and steel gray, generally dull, with dense massive, earthy, layered, and lamellar structures. This kind of graphite lacks luster, its lubricity is lower than that of flake graphite, and its selectivity is poor. However, the grade is high, the carbon content is generally 60% ~ 80%, a few are up to more than 90%, the ash content is 15% ~ 22%, the volatile content is 1% ~ 2%, and the moisture content is 2% ~ 7%.

In industry, natural graphite is divided into crystalline graphite and amorphous graphite according to crystalline form. Amorphous graphite, also known as cryptocrystalline graphite, has a carbon content of 60%~80%, graphite crystal diameter is less than 1μm, produced by microcrystalline aggregates, and the conductivity, thermal conductivity, lubricity and oxidation resistance of amorphous graphite are lower than that of crystalline graphite.

At present, the amorphous graphite products of the Franli plant are mainly used in refractories, castings, seals, special graphites and other fields, of which refractory materials and casting fields are the largest.

    Applications of amorphous graphite

    (1) Electrode material: Amorphous graphite as the electrode material of supercapacitors, compared with the synthesis temperature of crystalline materials, amorphous graphite is lower, so the synthesis cost of electrode materials is greatly reduced. Amorphous graphite has no lattice binding and belongs to an amorphous state, so its structure is more stable and the volume can be adjusted, which helps the transport of ions, so as an energy storage material, amorphous graphite has broad prospects. However, at present, the conductivity of amorphous graphite is weak, which limits the further improvement of capacitance performance to a certain extent. Therefore, in the future, in order to reduce research and development costs, improve production, and high cycle life of fast charging and discharging new energy, the Franili plant is also constantly developing new types of amorphous graphite.

    (2) Casting industry: amorphous graphite is widely used in casting materials, refractory materials, electrode paste, smelting carburizer and used as a raw material for pencils, welding rods, batteries, graphite emulsions, desulfurizers, preservatives anti-slip agents, graphite bearings and other products. In the foundry industry, amorphous graphite is coated on the surface of a solid to form a smooth film with strong adhesion, which is the good coating performance of amorphous graphite.

    Properties of amorphous graphite

Amorphous graphite, also known as microcrystalline graphite, earthy graphite, its surface is earthy, lacks luster, and its lubricity is slightly worse than flake graphite. High taste. General 60% ~ 85%, a few up to 90% or more, small scales, not high crystallinity, used to produce low-value products. Amorphous is a solid whose internal particles are not periodically repeated in three-dimensional space, with short-range order, but not long-range order. A solid with an irregular shape. The morphology of amorphous graphite is typically granular, except for very fine grinding, with a flake structure.

The ore is black dense and has a range of characteristics from graphite to anthracite coal. The melting point of amorphous graphite is 3850±50 °C, the boiling point is 4250 °C, even if it is burned by ultra-high temperature arcing, the weight loss is very small, and the coefficient of thermal expansion is also very small. The strength of amorphous graphite increases with temperature, and at 2000 °C, the strength of amorphous graphite can be doubled.

The traditional use of amorphous graphite is the production of pencils, charcoal rods, refractories and casting. These downstream products mainly use amorphous graphite at an affordable price and high carbon content. Amorphous graphite is smaller in diameter than crystalline graphite particles and is nearly spherical, which has innate advantages as a raw material for isotropic graphite. Widely used as an affordable raw material in industry, chemicals and other fields, the Franli factory can also provide high-quality and affordable amorphous graphite for you .If you are interested, you can contact us.
