Application

Depending on its quality, petroleum coke can be used in industries such as graphite, smelting and chemical industry, etc

Petroleum coke, as a byproduct of petroleum, is produced in the process of petroleum processing, that is, the crude oil is distilled to separate light and heavy oil, and the heavy oil is converted into petroleum coke by hot cracking. If petroleum coke can be obtained directly from petroleum processing, then the petroleum coke is raw coke or ordinary coke. Petroleum coke has irregular shape, dark gray or black, porous structure and metallic luster.

At present, the forging and burning of petroleum coke in China mainly adopt four ways: rotary kiln forging and burning, tank forging and burning furnace, rotary furnace, and electric heating forging and burning furnace. Due to the different structures of some furnace types, the process is also very different. Most of the petroleum coke produced by domestic and foreign electrolytic aluminum supporting prebaked anode and commercial prebaked anode production enterprises use tank calciner and rotary kiln for calcination. The heating mode of tank calciner is indirect heating with the heat emitted by refractory bricks, while the heating mode of rotary kiln is heating with combustion gas in direct contact with materials.

Petroleum Coke

Whether the forged petroleum coke used in the production of graphitized cathode carbon block or the calcined petroleum coke used in the production of prebaked anode carbon block, although they have different requirements for raw materials, their production processes are the same, that is, the forged coke obtained by forging without any other raw materials can effectively improve the physical properties of coke, such as conductivity, density, etc.

There are two commonly used production processes for calcined petroleum coke, rotary kiln production process, and tank furnace production process. Most foreign petrochemical enterprises use rotary kiln production processes to forge petroleum coke, while most domestic petrochemical enterprises use tank furnace production processes to forge petroleum coke.

Its production process is relatively simple. It mainly controls the calcination time and temperature. It can process various types of petroleum coke, but it can not process highly volatile fuel. Can be made using a pot furnace.

Petroleum Coke

At present, more and more enterprises are committed to developing more optimized tank furnace production processes, including increasing production capacity to improve automation levels and improve waste heat and waste gas treatment. Therefore, the production technology of tank furnaces will be the main direction of furnace development in the future.

In foreign countries, the calcination process of petroleum coke is completed in an oil refinery, and petroleum coke is directly calcined in the calcination device. China’s refineries have no calcination device, so the price of petroleum coke is low. At present, the forging and burning of petroleum coke and coal in China is mainly concentrated in the metallurgical industry, such as carbonization plants, aluminum plants, and so on.

Calcined oil coke has a good sales market in China, and its main use is the aluminum industry. In foreign markets, the prospect of fake petroleum coke is also very optimistic, mainly exported to the United States, Japan, Singapore, and Russia. The price difference between general petroleum coke and forged coke is hundreds of yuan per ton. Oil refining and coke burning are important means to improve the economic benefits of coking units in refineries. The content of petroleum coke can be significantly increased after treatment.
